Splanchnic Balance of Free Fatty Acids, Endocannabinoids, and Lipids in Subjects With Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease  Jukka Westerbacka, Anna Kotronen, Barbara A. 3 Figure 2 (A) The relationship between FFA extraction during hyperinsulinemia and liver fat content. (B) Correlation coefficients between splanchnic production of each of the 85 individual TGs and liver fat content were calculated. These correlation coefficients (Spearman rho) then were plotted against the number of double bonds in the respective TGs. An inverse relationship was observed, implying that the higher the liver fat, the less TGs, which contain many double bonds that are produced by the splanchnic region.
