1 Monymusk School, Travel Plan, March 2017
Monymusk School is situated in a rural area, which means that many children arrive by school bus, taxi or car, as they live outside the village. The children who live in the village mainly walk, cycle or scooter to school. There is an all-weather bike shelter and a scooter pod in the playground to park their bikes and scooters. There is a 20mph speed limit outside the school. There are no formal road crossings and everyone is reminded to take care when crossing the roads on the way to school. We take part in Road Safety awareness weeks and encourage everyone to take part in the Big Pedal. A travel plan is a document which encourages people to travel to our school in an eco-friendly, healthy and safe way. We are writing a travel plan because we want to make sure that we have all thought carefully about how we travel to school and if we could travel differently, in a way that would make us healthier, as well as the environment.
