Mission Earth: Fusing GLOBE with NASA Assets to Build Systemic Innovation in STEM Education Monthly Status (April) Updates Updates (con’t) Webinar #13 / Exploring Careers occurred on April 5 Meeting with Advisory Committee on April 20 via Zoom Reviewing the recommendations of the Advisory Committee Submitted GLOBE related sessions to NSTA National Conference 2018 in Atlanta, GA THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO: Participated in Martin Luther King Jr. Academy for Boys STEAM Day for students & their parents on April 13 2017 Solar Eclipse boxes for Matt Penn sent out Assisted with John Moore’s teacher professional development UT Professional Development (July 10-14)– recruiting teams of teachers (grades K – 8) from the same school or feeder pattern to do Elementary GLOBE Promoting our students to submit their projects to the SATELLITES Student Conference (May 3) and the GLOBE Midwest Regional Symposium on May 19-20, 2017 at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. BOSTON UNIVERSITY: Doing weekly school visits; assisting their teachers in student trainings and collecting data for GLOBE Promoting the GLOBE Northeast / Mid-Atlantic Science Symposium on May 19-20, 2017 at Palmyra Cove Nature Center, Palmyra Cove, NJ TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY: Planning the professional development for area high school teachers to take place next summer Promoting the GLOBE Southeast Regional Science Symposium on April at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL WestEd/UC BERKELEY: Doing weekly school visits with classroom observations; assisting their teachers in student trainings and collecting data for GLOBE Staff securing materials in preparation for Eclipse Promoting the GLOBE Pacific Science Symposium on June 2-3, 2017 at JPL in Pasadena, CA Submitted three proposals for disseminations through conferences. Work with NM to engage teachers and plan for STEM symposium. NASA Langley Research Center Attended GLOBE Strategic Planning Meeting Submitted GLOBE related NSTA sessions Had meeting with some folks at NASA GISS regarding Visualization tool options, potentially for MY NASA DATA Updated the GLOBE Learning Progression and discussing it with the PD and Curriculum Working Group Participated in Earth Day GLOBE Event at local library PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT/SUPPORT WORKING GROUP: Identifying where GLOBE and NASA fit in the Career Tech Ed Standards Working on one pagers matching high school NGSS to satellite missions Discussing the recommendations made by the Advisory Committee EVALUATION WORKING GROUP: Finalization of the questions to be included in the teachers' interview protocol Collaboration with Boston University for the planning of classroom observations and the teacher interviews West /Ed UC Berkeley stared their classroom observations using the protocol the group has created UT is planning their classroom observations Rubrics have been shared with all for review and finalization of the ones to be used (with possible variations for different audiences) ENGINEERING WORKING GROUP Met on April 25 to discuss the final engineering products produced this year and the Virtual GLOBE Engineering Challenge Would like to have a session at GLOBE Annual Meeting to discuss possible ways of connecting to other colleges of engineering PRE-SERVICE WORKING GROUP Met on April 21 recapped what was done during the semester. Would like to have a session at GLOBE Annual Meeting to discuss possible ways of connecting UG students Langley

Working with AREN Project on Engineering Design Challenge. Look Ahead GLOBE Training for Partners in Education (after school programs) on May 5 – a combination of F2F and eTraining. PIE will be using the afterschool program developed by Langley RC. Webinar #14 / 2017 Solar Eclipse occurring on May 20 Langley
