Elections:
Elections close at 5pm THIS Friday.
Please encourage all members to vote to ensure that you pass the 20% voter turnout mark. If you do not pass this mark, your election will be invalid.
Societies that don’t have a President, Treasurer and Secretary…don’t worry, we’ll work with you to see what we can do!

8. SURPRISE!
For societies that reach an 80% (or more!) voter turnout, you will be put into a prize draw with the opportunity to win £1000 for your Society C account. Updates will be sent out to Committees today, so keep checking your s.

9. Which societies would be interested? What ideas do you have?
End of Year Party
The Societies House Executive have started discussions about having a ‘End Of Year Societies Party’.
This will be a day dedicated to society events (performance, cultural etc) within and outside the SU Building in City.
We are currently thinking of holding the event during the last week of term.
We need to know…
Which societies would be interested?
What ideas do you have?
It would be quite good to get societies to ‘raise their hands’ if they are interested and maybe ask them to suggest the types of events that they are interested in doing.
Once the discussion is coming to an end, tell them to me and I’ll note down their interest 

10. Ratification of Society Affiliations
The Societies House Executive reviewed an application for the
Creative Writing Society
The Society Aims Were:
To publish the prose, drama and poetry of students at Nottingham Trent University
To network with and raise awareness of spoken word nights around Nottingham
To provide focus groups where students can provide each other with appropriate feedback
To encourage new writers

11. Creative Writing Society
The Societies House Executive reviewed an application for the
Creative Writing Society
The Objectives Included:
To host a monthly open mic night.
To publish a monthly magazine showcasing the work of students.
To publish one anthology of poetry one of prose and one of drama each year.
To meet at least once a week to discuss our work with our peers.
The Societies House Executive believed that the Aims and Objectives of the society were unique and did not violate the 5 principles in the Code Of Practice.

12. Ratification
Assembly is asked to ratify the decision made by the Societies House Executive to allow the affiliation of Creative Writing Society.
By ratifying the decision, the society will be able to begin its activity.
If you do not wish to ratify the decision, you must be able to prove that the proposed society does not meet one of the 6 principles (Explained on the next slide)
If not ratified, the application will be referred to the Students’ Union Executive, who will meet to make a final decision on the application.
Please note: Each society gets 2 votes. These ratification cards must be collected AFTER the vote.

13. 6 Core Principles
Be best supported through the societies department rather than the sports department.
Have clear aims and objectives that do not directly duplicate another Society or Union department.
Must be feasible and sustainable venture
Does not encourage behaviour likely to be deemed as misconduct as defined in the NTSU Members’ Code of Conduct.
Will operate under the Union’s Equal Opportunity policy.
Does not contravene any ‘No Platform Policy’

15. VP Activities Report Questions
Societies: Produced AGM training, which was very well attended, thank you guys! Templates were produced to support societies conducting their AGM’s. Were these helpful? How did you find your AGM’s? Worked to try and support those with roles still available and opened up the by-elections to support societies. For those with roles still not filled, don’t fret! We will be working with you all individually over Easter/next term to try and resolve this. Next steps, I will be working on the Handover training and future society committee training, we hope to have this completed after Easter so we can get current/new committees in before exams start. If you are still having issues with members of your society voting, please let us know after the assembly.

16. RAG:
I have been putting on smaller RAG events over the past few weeks, we put on Paddy’s Day Face painting at the SU last night and will be holding a raffle at Brackenhurst this evening for the final Tour Ticket on offer. Planning an additional Puppy Room for during exams next term (been a little overshadowed by the Piglets!)
Working with the current committee on events for next term – currently we have a Rebel Bingo event in the works.
