7. What was the Black Hand?
A secret Serbian society of the early 20th century that used terrorist methods to promote the liberation of Serbs outside Serbia. Opposed Austro-Hungarian Rule.
Gavrilo Princip – 19 years old member of the Black Hand. Assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
June 28, 1914.
