Topics User Roles Student Test Statuses Student Test Status
View the Student Test and Item Progress Page Resources Support We will first explain basic user account management permissions to perform the activities shown in the module. Then we will discuss student test statuses, how to view student test statuses in a test session, and how to interpret the student test and item progress page. This training may be viewed by LEA or School Test Coordinators and School Test Administrators involved in PARCC assessments.

Go to: Topics User Roles Base roles must be applied to a user account in order to perform the actions covered in the training module. For demonstration purposes we will use the Test Administrator Role. Users must be assigned certain roles in PearsonAccessnext to perform actions outlined in this training module. The following user roles can be assigned to district staff who will monitor student tests status and item progress in PearsonAccessnext: LEA/District Test Coordinator Role School Institution Test Coordinator Role Test Administrator Role For this presentation, we will use the Test Administrator role. If you have further questions on user accounts, review the User Role Matrix document to help you understand base and add-on user role options and permissions sets.

Student Test Statuses Go to: Topics Status Description Ready
The student has not yet started the test. Active The student has logged in and started the test. If the student exits the test, but the status remains set at Active, the student cannot resume testing unless the status is changed to Resumed or Resumed Upload. Exited The student has exited TestNav but has not submitted test responses. The student cannot resume testing unless the status is changed to Resumed or Resumed Upload. Resumed The student has been authorized to resume the test, but has not yet logged in. Resumed Uploaded Completed The test has been submitted by the student through TestNav and the data has been processed. This status cannot be changed, except by using Undo Student Test Submission. Marked Complete The student has exited TestNav and will not resume the same test, or has never logged in to a test, but the test session needs to be stopped. This status cannot be changed, except by using Undo Student Test Submission. This is a list and description of the available student test statuses. We will explain these statuses and color codes later in this training module. Student Test Status shows the status of students in the online testing process, before the test session has been started, during testing, and after the test session has been stopped or completed, as described in the Students in Sessions module.

Student Test Status Go to: Topics
In order to find the status of individual students, you must be on the Students in Session page with a session selected. Once the session is selected: Use the filters and search button, to find the student(s) whose status you want to view. Students’ test statuses will be displayed under Result within the students’ record. This view gives Test Administrators a quick look at the current status of student testing progress. Test Statuses and their color codes: A grey Ready status indicates a test that is ready to be started by a student. A green Active status indicates that the student started the test with their login information from the Student Testing Ticket. A red Exited status indicates the student exited their test without submission and the test must be resumed by the Test Administrator to continue testing. A yellow Resumed or Resumed Upload status indicates the test has been resumed by the Test Administrator and is ready for the student to log back in and resume testing. A blue Complete or Marked Complete status indicates the test has been submitted or marked complete by the Test Administrator. Next, we will show you how to view additional student testing details like number of questions the student has answered or visited from the students individual Student Test & Item Progress page.

View the Student Test and Item Progress Page
Go to: Topics Click on the status of the student. This will open the Student Test & Item Progress page for this student. This page identifies specific session details of your student: the student’s name and ID, Central Time zone time stamp of current report view (you may refresh this report by clicking on the Refresh button), session and test name, current test status, and total items answered, visited, and remaining. As you scroll down the page you will notice testing details: item, unit, and sequence numbers; items visited and answered by the student; and a timestamp of when the item was last updated. Use this information to understand students current testing status. For example, you may use this status page if a student becomes ill and you need to find out the last item the student accessed during testing or if you need to confirm a student completed testing. Close out of this screen by pressing the “x” in the upper right hand corner.

Resources Go to: Topics User Role Matrix – updated annually on the PearsonAccessnext website PearsonAccessnext User Guide Monitor or Change Student Status Students in Sessions training module: There are additional resources available to help you. The User Role Matrix is updated annually and contains the User Roles and permissions assigned to the User Roles. This is a great place to determine the base and add-on roles required to perform tasks in PearsonAccessnext. Additionally, the PearsonAccessnext User Guide is accessible while a user is in PearsonAccessnext. Click Support > Documentation. The PearsonAccessnext Online User Guide is found in the Top Resources menu, to the right of the screen. The Students in Session training module will provide an overview of the activities needed to manage a student’s test session and statuses in PearsonAccessnext during testing day, as well as how to navigate through the Students in Sessions page.
