1
Distributed Optical Fibre Radiation and Temperature Sensing at High Energy Accelerators and Experiments Update on installation of DOFRS in PS-Booster Diego DI FRANCESCA, EN-EA
2
Outline Installation in the PS-Booster Current status
Comparison with other dosimeters
3
Current status The rack was installed. Ok
The power strips for the alimentation of the OTDR and other instruments has not been done yet. It should be done soon. OK. The installation of Ethernet outlet is planned in the beginning of March (before the 10th). OK. The cable tray was installed. OK
4
Current status The cables were installed and the fibers were connected to the subrack (A priori, OK. But we are now waiting for the “ok” to perform some tests) We went for a survey in the PSB and we were able to follow the cable duct along almost all its path. Cable duct
5
Current status We are taking references in the machine to reconstruct the cable path. It will be the X-axis in our OTDR traces.
6
Current status The exportation of the data from the OTDR works fine. OK Some last minor changes need to be done. In progress Testing is in progress. Calibrations curves: Extension of the initial calibration for the j-fiber. OK Calibration of all other radiation sensitive OFs (6 out of 8, last one in progress) . OK

Comparison with other dosimeters
What I showed last time… Average dose Gy/y Total expected losses in dB Raw data 300 150 W/o 1 hotspot 80 45 W/o 2 hotspots 23 Data extracted from HLD_PSB 2014/2015 We would have expected hot spots with tens of kGy/year …..

Comparison with other dosimeters
This time… Dose in 2016 in Gy (rough estimation) BR.SIMA-1:SEU_B1_COUNTS_INT 1.08E+02 BR.SIMA-2:SEU_B1_COUNTS_INT Wrong 1.26E+04 BR.SIMA-3:SEU_B1_COUNTS_INT Wrong 4.84E+03 BR.SIMA-4:SEU_B1_COUNTS_INT 1.40E+00 BR.SIMA-5:SEU_B1_COUNTS_INT 7.19E-01 BR.SIMA-6:SEU_B1_COUNTS_INT 3.79E-01 BR.SIMA-7:SEU_B1_COUNTS_INT 4.72E-01 BR.SIMA-8:SEU_B1_COUNTS_INT 4.27E+00

Comparison with other dosimeters
Actions we are taking: We are going to install 15 radfets in one period (probably period 1) Wednsday 22/02 We are going to install also several RPL within this week, starting on Wednesday too This is going to be useful in two ways: verifying the agreement with punctual dosimeters It will help to find the correct positioning of the sensing cable in the machine
