0.1NEEDLE SCAFFOLDING:- Needle scaffolding is used under the following circumstances: Ground is weak to support the standards. Construction of upper part of the wall is to be carried out. It is required to keep the ground near wall, free for traffic etc. In this type of scaffolding, the general framework may be of single scaffolding Or of double scaffoldling type. But the standards are supported by a series of needles Which are taken out at floor levels or through holes kept in the masonry.

0.1.1Needle-Beam Scaffold A needlebeam scaffold consists of a plankplatform resting on two parallel horizontal beams,called needle beams, which are supported by linesfrom overhead. (See fig )Needle-beam scaffolds should be used only for the support of personnel doing light work. They are suitable for use by riveting gangs working on steelstructures because of the frequent changes of locationnecessary and the adaptability of this type of scaffoldto different situations

.Several types of patent and independent scaffolding are
available for simple and rapid assembly, as shown in figure 6-41. The scaffolding uprights are braced with diagonal members, and the working level is covered with a platform of planks. All bracing must from triangles, and the base of each column requires adequate footing plates for bearing area on the ground. The patented steel scaffolding is usually crected by placing the two uprights on the ground and inserting the diago nal members.

The diagonal members have end fittings, which permit easy assembly. The first tier is set on steel bases on the ground, and a second tier is placed in the same manner on the first tier with bottom of each upright locked to the top of the lower tier. A third and fourth uprights can be placed on the ground level and locked to the first set with diagonal bracing. The scaffolding can be built as high as desired, but high scaffolding shoud be tied into the main structure.

0.2.1Safely in Action Well engineered design basics provide a safe work environment. The system is quick and easy to assemble, with a minimum amount of components that easily fit together. The flexibility of the scaffold design allows parts like the handrail posts to be mounted on the trestle with one simple movement. Plank Locks are designed to sit flush with the connecting planks maximising strength & ensuring a safe, sturdy & stable 450mm platform Outriggers are necessary for higher working platforms, where the platform height is greater than 3 times the base width of the trestle.
