Increase student learning as measured by multiple and varied assessment to assure all students graduate prepared for a dynamic and complex global society Objective 3-Monitor the alignment between new national and state frameworks in science, technology, engineering, and math and local STEM initiatives. a. Integrate the newly developed K-12 STEM framework into the appropriate disciplines and grade levels. b. Implement STEM programs K-8 and continue to research new opportunities at the high school.

11 Sample Standards 3-5-ETS1-1. Define a simple design problem reflecting a need or a want that includes specified criteria for success and constraints on materials, time, or cost. 3-5-ETS1-2. Generate and compare multiple possible solutions to a problem based on how well each is likely to meet the criteria and constraints of the problem. 3-5-ETS1-3. Plan and carry out fair tests in which variables are controlled and failure points are considered to identify aspects of a model or prototype that can be improved.

Ask: What is the problem? Explore: What are ways to solve the problem? Model: Create a solution for the problem. Evaluate: Test to see if the solution works. Explain: Talk about how and why your solution works.

While viewing this video consider: How was the classroom environment designed? How were students engaged in the scientific, mathematical and engineering practices? How are students developing and applying 21st century learning and innovation skills?
