On the bottom, in the summary section, explain in your own words what the Rhetorical Triangle is OR how it might be useful to you. Turn in your notes to the ORANGE TRAY – be sure your name and period are on it. The Final Product… In his essay, “If Schools Could Pick Their Students,” Author Saul Schachter argues that the educational system would be much improved if schools were allowed to pick their own students. Schachter develops this argument by using logical examples, including telling the story of “Jeremy,” the type of student schools should not have to deal with. Schachter’s purpose is to Criticize the current public school system in order to convince his audience that public schools should have the same rights to eliminate problem students that private schools have. Schachter uses a humorous yet serious tone for readers who might be questioning how to improve the public-school system.
