Bar attached to frame makes the bike more secure less likely to fall off, however could be difficult to attach/ remove.
The fact that the bikes are above the car makes them less likely to be hit when the car reverses into a parking space, how ever they are susceptible to colliding with height restriction bars and low hanging braches which poses a problem for inner city transport and some roads going though forests.
Another issue with the positioning of the bikes is the amount of air resistance they will provide when the car is travelling, the extra drag will result in higher engine use and hence a high consumption of fuel. This will add higher costs to the transport.
Adjustable straps allow different tyre widths to be attached to the rack.
Only cars with roof rails can use this product which will bring sales down as the majority of cars in Britain don’t have roof rails.
