Project Goals Establish Alliance Partners
High Schools, Teachers, Community Colleges, Students, Industry (build relationships) Engage partners in recruiting, retaining and placing qualified graduates (increase our student numbers and graduates) Facilitate placement of IT majors in Florida, and North Florida specifically (keep them close) Increase enrollments, graduation rates, three year completion rates, and employment rates (assessment goals) Assess the alignment of technology programs from secondary through post- secondary educational programs (create pathways that everyone understands) Marketing the profession and our programs (raise our profession visibility) FITC Alliance

Purpose of the Study To obtain information that can be used to facilitate the recruitment, retention and placement of IT, Computer Science and Computer Engineering students in North Florida. Use the data collected to improve the process that students undergo to complete majors in information technology, computer science, and computer engineering. Collect information to improve partnerships between secondary and post-secondary educational institutions in North Florida and regional employers.

What does participation involve?
Completion of preliminary surveys prior to arriving at workshops in Summer 2014 Participate in Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 surveys Participate in voice-recorded focus group brainstorming sessions. Your participation is voluntary.

Risks & Benefits Risks:
Focus group sessions will be recorded and some of the responses may disclose identifying information about participants involved. Surveys and transcribed recordings will not identify individuals by name or school. Benefits: $1,500 honorarium for attending the Summer workshop IT Brochures and information graphs will be shared with participants. Attendance at workshops and conferences intended to promote the collaboration and networking of individuals interested in the expansion of IT in North Florida.

Compensation for Partners
Schools that continue to partner with the alliance will be eligible for $4,500 in the Fall of 2014.

Confidentiality Records of this study will be kept private and confidential to the extent permitted by law. In any sort of report we might publish, we will not include any information that will make it possible to identify a subject. Research records will be stored securely and only researchers will have access to the records. Voice recordings will be maintained for one year by the FITC research team and will be destroyed within one year of collection. All information will be used for educational purposes only.
