1 Welcome to year 2 By now you have a good basic grounding in the skills required to make a success of this course. Your task this year is to take these skills and develop them further in order to be prepared for life at university and the world of work.

2 This will be done in two ways:
Specialist choice modules. The two modules in unit 3 are Forensic (Criminal) Psychology and Clinical (Health) Psychology These will be assessed by a single 1 hour 30 minute examination in January. The full syllabus is available on i Learn

3 You are also required to complete 2 pieces of practical work
A content analysis and an article summary. Both these pieces require you to research on your own; the more you read, the more you will understand, the better you will do. Support will be given, but this work is your responsibility. It is good practice for the more autonomous style of working which is the norm at university/work.

4 The last bit You will shortly find out what grades are required by your chosen universities. You must use this knowledge to set targets to ensure you do as well as it is possible for you to do. Always give 100%. Remember, you only have 9 months to do this and this time will go by very quickly.

5 Things that will help you to achieve your goal
Be willing to take more responsibility for your own learning (reading round the subject out of class is important) Prompt attendance at all classes, with advanced notice of absence if at all possible. The more classes you miss the harder it is to do well on this course. A positive approach with concentration and commitment in class. It is your choice to waste your own time –it is not fair to waste that of others though! Submission of work by the given deadline. The responsibility is yours, you will not be chased for work. If you do not hand work in, it will not be marked. This means you will not receive any feedback. You will not know what you need to do to improve. You will be choosing to miss out on the support your teacher could be giving you. Be prepared to come and ask about anything you do not understand.
