Welcome to Online Math & Science Tutoring
Online tutoring is available for most math and science courses to all Central Arizona College students, regardless of whether or not the student is enrolled in an online class Online tutoring for math and science is conducted two ways: Synchronous tutoring Asynchronous tutoring

Characteristics of Synchronous Tutoring
Requires an appointment Meet with a live tutor Uses “Virtual Classrooms” in Blackboard Feature a chat room, an equation editor, and a whiteboard to write on

Synchronous Online Tutoring
Call SPC or SMC Learning Center at (520) or (480) Ask to set an online appointment for your class (e.g., MAT151) Access “Online Math and Science Tutoring & Resources” (in Blackboard) Click “Online Appointments” Select “Online Tutor Appointments” and the corresponding virtual classroom Synchronous Online Tutoring

Characteristics of Asynchronous Tutoring
No appointments necessary Allows time for reflective learning Uses “Ask a Tutor” discussion board in Blackboard Features text posts, an equation editor, option to attach files/images

Asynchronous Online Tutoring
Online Math and Science Tutoring & Resources (in Blackboard) Select your subject Select your class Select “Ask a Tutor” “Create a Thread” to post a new question Asynchronous Online Tutoring
