Health & Wellbeing Strategy 2017-20
Welcome/Housekeeping Why are we here today? We have engaged with stakeholders to identify the issues the Health & Wellbeing Board should focus on for the next three years. We are consulting on the draft H&WB strategy - 10th October to 9th December We want to start to look at action planning and how we can improve on what we have In times of austerity, health inequalities are widening, and there is a need to target approaches

Whose H&WB strategy? Strategy will be overseen by the Reading Health & Wellbeing Board local authority Clinical Commissioning Groups local Healthwatch Delivered in partnership Duties to improve and protect wellbeing cover the whole Reading population The Health & Wellbeing Strategy sets out agreed priorities for the next three years

Younger population than the England average Higher than average earnings Higher levels of homelessness High risk of premature death or poor health in the most deprived areas – 10 year difference in life expectancy for men

H&WB Strategy: Guiding Principles
Shift our emphasis onto prevention rather than care Taking a holistic view of people rather than looking at health conditions in isolation Stronger collaboration around providing people with the information they need to take charge of improving their own health Recognition that different approaches are needed to reach different communities Better use of technology to empower people, support independence and make the most efficient use of limited resources
