Daniel went to Lowell High School, a prestigious San Francisco school and he graduated in 1988.
He began writing and won the 1990 Poets Prize from the Academy of an American Poets.
After he graduated from Wesleyan he won an Olin Fellowship, the funding from which allowed him to write his very first novel.
Daniel spend a mid – 1990s working on his novel.
