What is the AIAA? American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Professional society founded in 1963 More than 30,000 individual members from 88 countries, and 95 corporate members, AIAA is the world’s largest technical society dedicated to the global aerospace profession

3 What is the AIAA? Over the past eight decades, AIAA has published over 300 books and almost 200,000 technical articles. AIAA’s current publications include seven technical journals, a magazine, three book series, national and international standards documents

Planned This Year AIAA at IUPUI Lecture Series Aerospace Faculty Symposium (October 24th, 6-7:30PM 3 professors from IUPUI will discuss their roles on campus briefly discuss their work with the aerospace community! Planned This Year AIAA at IUPUI Lecture Series AIAA Distinguished Lecturer (Date: TBD) Each year, AIAA pays for a “distinguished lecturer” to travel to IUPUI and give a presentation. This lectures are very high quality. Last year’s Distinguished Lecturer was Todd Barber from NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

15 Drone Day (February 17th)
Planned This Year Drone Day (February 17th) Full-day event that teaches all about drones. From rules and regulations, to components and manufacturing. Morning session – lecture Lunch provided Afternoon session – hands on build-tutorial Option for students to buy an “AIAA at IUPUI pre-fab kit” for about $150. That way, they will be able to go home with their very own drone that they built themselves! More info to come.

Planned This Year Purdue Research Park Aerospace District Tour Flight Simulator SAPB Top Gun Showing SEDS 2018 NASA RASC-AL Design Team Seeking 6-8 IUPUI students to help form team. Develop new concepts that leverage innovations to improve our ability to travel between Earth and other destinations. Fatih Tokom at

2018 Design/Build/Fly Competition Location: Cessna Field in Wichita, KS This year’s mission: design an RC scale regional/business jet. More info at aiaadbf.org Funding in place for aircraft and travel already. This project is ALOT of work, so we are going to structure the team well and early into roles. If you are interested in working on the IUPUI DBF team, asap and/or come to our callout meeting tomorrow 4:30PM in ET103.
