1 Competition Time! You will each be given a scrap piece of paper to throw into the recycling bin – write your name on it! You will need to stay sat in your seat to do this. The Game - you all represent the country’s population. And everyone in the country has a chance to become wealthy and move into the upper class if you can throw your paper into the recycling bin. Students will start to say this is unfair as some students are closer to the bin than others. Still insist they have to throw the paper from where they are sitting.

2 Competition Time! How did you do???
The closer you were to the recycling bin, the better your odds of getting your paper into the bin and moving to the wealthy class – these countries are what we might describe as privileged Those furthest away from the bin were at a disadvantage – they were the ones most likely to complain about the lack of fairness This is what Social Justice is all about…making sure society treats everyone fairly whether they are wealthy or poor and protects people’s human rights

Human Rights The horrors of the World Wars and the Holocaust caused world’s leaders to meet as the United Nations to work out how to avoid future atrocities like these. They essentially asked two questions: 1) How should humans be treated? 2) What does every human deserve?

6 The Answer...Human Rights.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) was the final list of these rights. The declaration outlines the basic rights and freedoms that everyone has or should receive just for being human, and for no other reason. There are 30 human rights in total. Article 1: All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.’

12 Noughts and Crosses You are going to play a game of noughts and crosses– the aim is to get a line of 4 either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. To put your nought/cross on a square you will need to identify the quote and explain the meaning. If you want to check they are correct you can use your key quote glossary. There are two games of noughts and crosses – one is a bit easier with fill in the gaps and the other is a bit harder with just the quote pictures.
