What is pride? Google.com - A feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements, or of others, or from admired qualities. - The consciousness of one’s dignity - Having an excessively high opinion of oneself

What is pride? Biblically, one who thinks too highly of himself, or an undue sense of one’s own self importance Pride – by its very definition, is sinful. Every usage of the (English) word in OT & NT, is never good. Do not confuse pride with recognizing good achievements, feeling good or thinking confidently about yourself or others, WITH humility.

What is pride? Pride is manifested in many ways:
Arrogance, self-righteousness, & boasting often the product of pride Excessive concern about appearance More concerned about what others think than God Continually, seeking the praise of others Failure to admit our sin or we are wrong

When we won’t admit our struggles Unjustly judging others (by ourselves) Persistent self-degradation to draw attention to ourselves Over confidence – think you are invincible

Thinking you don’t need God - James 4:13-17, Psalm 10:4 Thinking you cannot be wrong – 1 Timothy 6:3-4 Assumed humility – how many are proud of their humility? Are we too proud to admit when we are proud?

It dethrones God from our hearts – it is the desire to exalt ourselves beyond the place where God has put us. Romans 1:28-30 It deceives us as to who we really are It can lead to numerous other sins It will lead to our condemnation (1 Corinthians 10:12)
