Warranty Status API – Overview
Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) enable direct communication between customer and Dell IT systems via industry standard protocols. This API returns warranty entitlement and system configuration information directly from Dell to the customer’s environment. An extension to the customer’s Help Desk system enabling a single console to assist with the management of product warranties. What is it? Connection: receive real time warranty entitlement and expiration data, plus as-shipped configuration information. Control: Customers may use this information to proactively manage their Dell IT systems. Convenience: accessing up-to-date data within customer’s own IT system leads to an enhanced customer experience. Customer Benefits How to get started ? Download the How to Get Started document. Customer completes questionnaire and sends to Dell Dell sends API Software Development Kit (includes License agreement) Customer agrees to License to access API Software Development Kit Dell sends API key with test tags Customer integrates API and tests in sandbox Dell provides self-certification process Customer executes self-certification Dell validates self-certification promotes sandbox key to production Customer uses production URL Go Live! Companies who release their API often do so as part of a larger software development kit (SDK) that includes the API, programming tools and other instructional documents to make the developer's job easier.
