**Remember to wear tennis shoes on P.E. days**
A Peek At The Week -In reading we are continuing to switch to our leveled reading groups. Students should be bringing home daily reading homework. -During math we will be working on taking away 7, 8, and 9 from teen numbers. Students will continue practice with drawing pictures and circling the group of ten. -This week during writing time we will be working on telling more within our writing. Students will be writing about things they wish for and a silly animal story. In each writing activity we will focus on adjectives to describe shape, color, size, etc. -During our Core Knowledge time will continue with our science unit on the States of Matter. Students will explore how items can change from one state of matter to another. We will continue doing fun experiments and a very tasting culminating activity on Friday Homework Ideas -Please take time to read with your child every night for minutes. -Finish the Math Sprints for extra practice of math fluency at home. Reminders -It is supposed to be rather chilly these next few days. Please send your child in all the appropriate winter weather gear as we will make time to be outside! -December 15th, MSA Meeting from 4:00-5:00 in the learning lab. -December 20th, Winter Parties- More information to come. Report cards go home. Mrs. Hawkins’ First Grade News December 5th 2016 Looking Ahead Extra News -Watch this week for a Sign Up Genius in regards to our Winter Party Sign Up. -Students have been complaining quite a bit about being thirsty in class. I think it’s from the heater running more often and the drier air. If you would like to send them with a water bottle for their desk, you are more than welcome to do so.
