Where they lived Part of the Southern Coastal group
Lived in large villages along the coast from Topanga to Laguna Beach Lived on islands along the coast

They were hunters and fisherman.
They hunted rabbits, squirrels, ducks. They fished using hooks and nets

Acorns and seeds were also a large part of their diet.
The women boiled the acorns and made them into a hot cereal called mush.

They built plank boats for fishing and transportation.

They lived in a shelter made of bent young trees covered with tule mats.

The women were expert basket makers.

Before the Spaniards came they were called Tongva which means”People of the Land”.
