1 Having A Rated “G”odly Marriage
1 Corinthians 7:1-16

2 To the unmarried believer:
It is better to remain pure. Getting married is better than sinning. Paul thinks it is better to be single. Self-control is preferred.

3 To the married believers:
Husbands and wives have a physical responsibility to each other. Mutual consent to prayer is a limited exception. The marriage commitment is for life. Divorce does not dissolve the one- flesh.

4 To the believers in a mixed marriage:
Some Christians had unbelieving spouses. They were to show Christ to their families. Their influence drew God’s blessing on their families. Their influence could lead their spouses to Christ.

5 What does that mean to us?

6 Hebrews 13:4 “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.”

7 To the unmarried: Marriage is not your goal in life, purity is.
Marry before you get sexually involved. Singleness is honorable. Be self-controlled!

8 To the married: Have sex regularly.
Only withhold by mutual consent. Don’t cause your spouse to be tempted. Your commitment is for life, not until a better offer! If you are divorced, reconciliation is your goal.

9 To those with unbelieving spouses:
Stay faithful. Be a Godly example. Never stop praying and hoping!
