Internship Program Period July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017 (1 year) Internship Students 3 Students from Han Yang University, Korea (Seoul 2, Ansan 1) Major : Automotive Engineering Name of Students – Unknown Responsibility for program Training coordination: H.R (Noelia Mata assisted by Suk-Je Lee) Department training (Production, Quality, Tool Room) Other departments support the training program.

Goal of Internship Program
Understand the automotive industry. Understand the role of parts supplier in the automotive industry. Experience the manufacturing process of GNS America. (Stamping, Welding & Assembly, and Tooling) Experience the die tooling process of GNS America. (Simulation/die design with CAD system, Machining, Die Build & Tryout) Experience American Culture (Business & life)

Month 1: Introduction of Production and Die Build
Week 1: Introduction of GNS America Introduction of company/staffs, company regulation Introduction of community, lodging and transportation… Introduction of stamping process Week 2: Understanding of stamping parts production Cold stamping operation Hot stamping operation Laser and welding operation Quality System (Outline of TS & ISO, Quality Lab, Quality Procedure from material receiving to shipping) Week 3: Understanding of stamping business Sales & Quotation Program Management/APQP Visit customers plants and GNS subsidiaries plants (MTW & Kenowa) Weeks 4: Understanding of Die Build CNC Machining Die build (Cold stamping/Hot stamping die) Simulation/Strip Layout

Month 2: Experience at Production Department
Week 5-6 : Cold Stamping Operation Experience an operator or assistant at the cold stamping lines Experience points 1) Cold stamping parts manufacturing process 2) Basic knowledge of presses and other equipment related to stamping process 3) Role of press operators, die setters 4) Check points for quality parts 5) Self maintenance points and 5S 6) Suggestion for improvement Week 7-8 : Hot Stamping Operation Experience an operator or assistant at the hot stamping lines 1) Hot stamping parts manufacturing process 2) Basic knowledge of Hot stamping press and related to process equipment 3) Role of press operators

Month 3: Experience at Production Department
Week 9-10 : Welding & Assembly Operation Experience an operator or assistant at the welding & assembly line Experience points 1) Welding & assembly process 2) Basic knowledge of welding technology 3) Other assembly method for stamping parts 4) Basic knowledge of welding and assembly equipment 5) Role of operator 6) Check points for quality parts 7) Self maintenance points and 5S 8) Suggestion for improvement Week : Receiving &Shipping Experience an operator or assistant at the receiving & shipping area 1) Basic knowledge of material (steel coil) specification with physical properties 2) Material receiving inspection 3) Process for coil storage and coil load to presses. 4) Understand of Work In Process 5) Shipping procedure 6) Documentation for shipping 7) Role of material receiving coordinator and shipping coordinator

Month 4: Experience at Quality Department
Week : Quality Inspection Experience as an quality inspector or quality sorter on the shop floor Experience points 1) Know quality issues in production 2) Understand the root cause of quality problems 3) Understand the quality control plan 4) Role of quality inspector 5) Suggestion for improvement Week : Material Testing Experience as an lab technician or assistant 1) Understand the material testing method 2) Basic knowledge of test machines for material test 3) Understand testing procedure and reason for testing 4) Test specification 5) Documentation for testing result 6) Countermeasures for the failed test result 7) Role of lab technician 8) Suggestion for improvement

Month 6: Experience at Tool Room
Week : Die Build & Tryout Experience as an apprentice on the shop floor Experience points 1) Understand die structure & function 2) Understand the new die build procedure 3) Experience the die components check, die assembly, grinding etc. 4) Understand the die spotting procedure 5) Experience die tryout 6) Role of die maker 7) Experience the sample parts check (Dimension check & material test) 8) Suggestion for improvement Week : Machining 1) Basic knowledge of machines (CNC machines & other machines ) 2) Understand the die components drawing and material 3) Understand machining process, machine tool 4) Experience the machine operation 5) Understand the CNC machine programming 6) Role of machine operator and CNC programmer 7) Suggestion for improvement
