5 The CHIETA Voucher Project

6 Application Window The systems for the Voucher Project closed on 6th July 2016 for Training Providers applications and opened on the 26th September 2016 for companies. The advert was published on the Sunday Times newspaper on the 25th September 2016. Applications will close when the Voucher Project budget is exhausted. The budget allocated for the 2016/2017 financial year is R Approval is at the discretion of CHIETA depending on the applications received.

16 Importance of WIL, turning all workplaces into a training space

17 What is WIL? Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is aligned to the to the vision of the White Paper on Post School Education and Training which was launched on 16 January 2014 by the Minister of Higher Education and Training. The White Paper stresses the vital role of Technical and Vocational education with academic and Workplace Learning. WIL refers to an educational approach that aligns academic and workplace practices for the mutual benefit of learners and workplaces. This is in the form of for example: P1 and P2 experiential training, Work Based Learning, Internship and Graduate Programmes.

18 Why is WIL important? WIL prepares learners for the world of work and entrepreneurship The WIL Programmes required by TVET colleges and Universities of Technology (e.g. engineering related studies) leads to the acquisition of a full qualification Learnership and Artisan Programmes also requires experiential learning towards acquisition of a full qualification.

19 How is WIL implemented? SETAs are working in collaboration with TVETs, Universities of Technology, and Industry to ensure successful implementation of the WIL WIL is implemented by integrating theoretical learning with the practical and work experience related to their field of study It is an important aspect of career development whereby at CHIETA learners seeking opportunities are encouraged to register on CHIETA Skills Supply and Demand Database. WORK INTEGRATED LEARNING ( WIL) NQF Level 2-8 PIVOTAL WIL GRANT REGIME: WIL-UOT WBL is for up to 6 month period = R WP is for up to 6 month period = R Additional Incentive for recruitment from SSDD = R6300 for up to 6 month period WIL-TVET WBL is for up to 6 month period = R WP is for up to 6 month period = R Additional Incentive for recruitment from SSDD = R6300 for up to 6 month period WIL-HET WBL is for up to 6 month period = R WP is for up to 6 month period = R Additional Incentive for recruitment from SSDD = R6300 for up to 6 month period Work based Learning (WBL) - Learner with no qualification yet however requires work experience to get qualification Work placement for Employment (WP) - Learner with a qualification, requiring placement for employment NOTE: STAKEHOLDERS NEED TO APPLY FOR FUNDING EVERY 6 MONTHS
