International Conférence on Questionnaire Design, Development Evaluation, and Testing (QDET2)
Introduction Different statistical software exist – questionnaire design, coding and data analysis (Saldana, 2015). Comprehensive knowledge & skills on these is important for developmental planning and informed decision making for developing countries like Malawi However, level of knowledge and usage of such software for Questionnaire Designing and Data Coding (QDDC) is not known among college students. QDET2, Miami, Florida, USA November 2016

Problem Statement and key Objective
International Conférence on Questionnaire Design, Development Evaluation, and Testing (QDET2) Problem Statement and key Objective Complaint of lack of QDDC knowledge and skills among university graduates by Malawi employers (World Bank country report, 2010; Chiunda & Pfeiffer. 2008) This study aimed at assessing level of knowledge and attitude on use of software for QDDC among final year science students at Chancellor College, University of Malawi (- level, association, influencing factors, etc.) QDET2, Miami, Florida, USA November 2016

International Conférence on Questionnaire Design, Development Evaluation, and Testing (QDET2)
Research Methodology Mixed method (qualitative and quantitative) study design approach – targeted final year Science students Data collected using self-administered questionnaires and processed using Excel and SPSS version 23. Analysis done at Univariate, Bi-variate (Chi-Square test of association) – Cramer’s V and Multivariate (Logistic regression) - diagnostic test (Wald test statistics). QDET2, Miami, Florida, USA November 2016

International Conférence on Questionnaire Design, Development Evaluation, and Testing (QDET2)
Key Results Out of 89 randomly sampled students, 86 responded adequately representing response rate of 96.7%. Only 36.1% had comprehensive knowledge. Majority of females (70.4%), students of years (73.3%) as well as statistics majors (70.9%) showed lack of knowledge Unlike other statistical software for QDDC, 96.2% of respondents declared Microsoft word not difficult to use. QDET2, Miami, Florida, USA November 2016
6
International Conférence on Questionnaire Design, Development Evaluation, and Testing (QDET2)
Key Results… ? 54.7% of the respondents had negative attitude toward designing questionnaire For students (n = 35) who designed Questionnaire, Only 8.1% did pre – testing. QDET2, Miami, Florida, USA November 2016
7
International Conférence on Questionnaire Design, Development Evaluation, and Testing (QDET2)
Key Results… Age group (p-value 0.005) and Marital status (0.036), were significantly associated with level of knowledge. Cramer’s V of indicated very strong association between Age group and knowledge Wald test statistic showed that only Age group (0.004), was useful in predicting level of knowledge QDET2, Miami, Florida, USA November 2016

Conclusion, Limitation & Recommendation
International Conférence on Questionnaire Design, Development Evaluation, and Testing (QDET2) Conclusion, Limitation & Recommendation Comprehensive knowledge on usage of software for QDDC among science students is low (36.1%). Institutions that train prospective government and company employees should focus on software usage trainings in addition to usual theoretical courses. Study was limited to Chancellor College due to financial problem. (Need to be done to all Institutions in Malawi) QDET2, Miami, Florida, USA November 2016
