Additional Features of WordPad
Basic Format Text/Objects In A Document - accessed by using the Toolbar buttons or the File menu commands
Format - alters appearance of text by changing the kind of font/point size/color
Bullet Style - adds/removes emphasis with bullet
Paragraph - sets left/right indention; aligns by placing the paragraphs to the left/right margins or centering between the margins
Tabs - sets tab positions on the ruler, otherwise the tabs will be set every 1/2 inch
Note: You may also click on the ruler to set the tab(s) or drag the tab(s) to a different position (even off the ruler to remove the tab(s) 7

Using Graphics in a Document
Add graphics by using the clipboard or
by using the Insert, Object menu
Edit graphics by double-clicking on the graphic
Resize graphics by clicking on the graphic once
then dragging handles to the desired direction

Clipboard – Pasting an item from the clipboard will always place this object in the top-left corner of the palette
Append - EDIT, PASTE FROM menu lets you open a Bitmap from storage and add to the current document
Open - FILE, OPEN menu will let you retrieve a Bitmap file from storage 7

Editing Paint Objects
PICK a Tool Box - click on a TOOL
PICK a Color Box - click on a color
DRAW - place the CrossHair mouse pointer in the top-left starting point in the palette, then drag to the desired size; to keep a shape proportional hold the SHIFT key down before dragging
EDIT - click a selection tool, then highlight a portion of the screen by dragging the selection tool over
it; then proceed to MOVE/COPY/DELETE or RESIZE or use the IMAGE menu to FLIP/ROTATE/STRETCH/SKEW 7

PRINT - produces a hardcopy of the current Paint document; FILE, PAGE SETUP menu changes the orientation and margins
VIEW BITMAP - lets you view a full screen version of the current Paint document, similar to Print Preview
WALLPAPER - sets the current Paint document to the desktop wallpaper; saving the file in the C:\Windows\*.bmp
ICON - created from a Paint document by changing the file type from BMP to ICO
RESIZE PALETTE SIZE - select the IMAGES, ATTRIBUTES menu then change the Width/Height of the Palette
NO FRILL SIZE - select the only portion of the palette you wish to save, then EDIT, COPY TO menu and save as a file 7

- is like a very limited word processor that does not display formatting or graphics; it is known as a TEXT EDITOR and uses the ASCII (universal) character format.
File Format - ASCII, American Standard Code International Interchange, pure text; without formatting features or graphics
Basic Features - accessory in Windows; used primarily for text documents like Batch files
DATE/TIME - stamps the systems current date/time
SEARCH - locates a specified string character
Log.Txt file - keeps time log of work by saving with the name of LOG
.LOG command on the 1ST line; EDIT, DATE/TIME menu option on 2ND LINE
