1. How to download a sounding diagram from the internet ( Step 1)
Type in the site name
The following screen will appear
At the area circled in red type in the gps co-ordinates
For South Africa the latitude will be a negative value
The longitude will be a positive number
For Potchefstroom the right entries will be and 27
The seconds are not important
Hit “ Continue”

2. How to download a sounding diagram from the internet ( Step 2)
A page will load as below
In the circled area , click on the arrow next to “choose a forecast dataset”
A drop down menu will open with Hrs or Hrs
Select 0 to 192 Hrs ( The next 8 days)
Click on “go”

3. How to download a sounding diagram from the internet ( Step 3)
A page will load as below
At the circled area , click on the arrow next to “metrological forecast cycle”
A drop down menu will open. Choose the most recent cycle ( usually the top one). The digits reflect the date
Click on “next”

4. How to download a sounding diagram from the internet ( Step 3)
A page will load as below
At the first circled area , select click on the arrow next to “time to plot”
A drop down menu will open. Choose the date and time that you want the plot for ( typically the 6am or 2pm sounding)
Remember that the times are UTC, you need to add 2 hours ie 12 UTC = 2pm SA time
Choose full sounding or 400 mb ( 400 mb only shows the sounding to 400mb)
Type the 6 letter code at the bottom as displayed in the space provided
Click on “get sounding” to display the sounding
