Libraries & Library Cards
26 libraries throughout Contra Costa County. Library cards are free and available to any CA resident with proof of address. Institutional library cards available for teachers- longer check-outs and no fines. In 2015 we had over 4 million library visits and over 6 million items checked out. Card allows you access to all of our materials including books, DVD’s, CD’s, e- books, use of library computers and research databases. New libraries opening in San Pablo & Brentwood. Remodeled library opening in San Ramon. Funding established for new library in Pleasant Hill. Contra Costa County is a County system with full service locations in 26 buildings throughout CCC and in two of our juvenile detention centers. You do not need to live in our County to get a library card. You just need to verify your address. E-cards allow pre-registration for a full service card and access to databases and the ability to place a hold on a book. Holds- can get books from any of our locations delivered and held. There is no limit on the number of holds you can place. Teens can get a card without parent signature after they turn 13. Address verification is still required.
