10 Weekly Executive Summary
Street Resurfacing and Natural Gas Improvements Section 6: Public Information Narrative Work began last week on a $30 million construction initiative that will resurface more than 46 miles of city streets and replace aging natural gas lines that supply 1800 city blocks. Construction crews worked around heavy rainfall to kick-off the program by milling and repaving streets in West Pensacola. Next month work will begin on downtown city streets. Plans are to begin making concrete repairs (i.e., sidewalks, handicap ramps, curbs) the week of Monday, March 6 along with the first natural gas line replacements. Milling and resurfacing the downtown city streets is currently set to begin the week of April 17. Resurfacing city streets will deliver multiple benefits that include safer, smoother riding surfaces; reduced maintenance costs; and a more attractive appearance for our neighborhoods. Further information on the construction program is available by calling the city’s construction management consultant, Atkins, Inc. at (850)   The construction activities will continue in West Pensacola for about another month. Property owners are being alerted by mail one to two weeks in advance of work beginning on their street. Then, approximately 24 hours in advance of planned work, information is being distributed door-to-door. Upon receiving the 24 hour alert it is important that property owners remove vehicles parked on the street so that milling and resurfacing work can proceed. Date: 02/27/2017
