Fuerza aims to empower the local migrant community to be self-advocates by providing ESL education and skills training and facilitating access to the local community

11. What does being involved in FUERZA mean?

12. Volunteers
Volunteers must comply with Fuerza’s mission statement and purpose.
Volunteers will come from different backgrounds
Native-Spanish speakers; mixed status family members; Latinx community members; social justice advocates; community allies
Professors, Postdoctoral Fellows, Geisel Students, etc. will help as well as mentor the Fuerza team.
The plan is to get members who are willing to stand for dairy farm workers and who carry different perspectives, skills, and backgrounds.

Everyone is committed to 3-6 hours/week...
Visiting both Cook and Clay farms
Using UVME’s workbook
Continuing current lessons to improve grammar and pronunciation
Ensuring the students are up-to-speed with the material
Assisting with the farm workers’ daily needs that may need English translations
Maintaining a healthy friendship with the farm workers

16. What if we don’t get the funding?
We will make sure farm workers receive a list of free* mobile applications and online programs which will help them learn English independently.
