4 Carpool Students can come up to their home room at 7:45am
They will have time to use the restroom and get organized for the day By 8:00 they should be seated, beginning bell work; while attendance is being taken After school, carpool is from 3:30-3:45 ish

5 Daily Schedule 7:45-8:00 Students will enter classroom
8:00-8:35 Saxon Grammar 8:37-9:38 Core Class (Course 2 Math) Core Classes consist of Math, Science, and Social Studies Students will rotate from class to class based on their individual schedules 9:40-10:42 Core Class 2 (Course 1 Math) 10:45-11:35 Specials Computer Science, Spanish, Study Skills, Art, Music, PE 11:37-12:10 Writing 12:10-12:50 Lunch/Recess 12:55-1:55 Core Class 2 (Course 1 Math) 1:57-2:50 Social Studies 2:52-3:30 Homeroom Enrichment/Intervention Time 3:30 Carpool

6 Saxon Math Students will have a rigorous year in math. They will have daily work and weekly assessments. Cumulative Assessments 80% Power Up Facts 5% Power Up Problem Solving 5% Homework 10%, yet so very important… Link for Text Book 1. Go to www. academycharter.org 2. Click on Homework Pages under Students 3. Click on Saxon Math and CPO Science Books in the top right hand corner 4. Log on with:         Password: acsschool 5. Click your Saxon Math textbook

7 What to Expect for Homework
Math – Expect homework on a daily basis, Monday through Friday (except on test days) Grammar – This year students will also have daily grammar homework as well Writing – We will try to get as much work as we can done in class, however at times do not be surprised if some comes home.

8 Homework Policy Assignments are expected to be completed and turned in on time. This is the students responsibility. If assignments are late, but turned in later that day or the next day, students will receive 80% credit on what the score would have been. On the second day, they will receive 50% credit, On day three it will be entered as a zero in the grade book. Infinite Campus will be notated with “*M” for missing assignments. I only update IC once a week.

9 Parents and Homework… Please let your child be responsible for his/her homework, as they grow and develop more independence. Growth in education is like a three-legged stool and each of us has a part: Student, Parent, Teacher Be an active part, but let them do their part!

10 Sports and Extracurricular Activities
Students must maintain grades to participate in ACS sports. Please review the student handbook on our website.

11 Dress Code Please refer to the Dress Code Policy and consequences for clarification. 1st Violation – Warning 2nd Violation – Loss of Next Dress of Choice Day 3rd Violation – Loss of all Dress of Choice Days It will be enforced and violations will be sent home for a signature.

12 Communication I will use and our classroom website to communicate classroom needs or information. I will use to keep in touch about your child, when needed. This is the quickest and most efficient way to communicate. Feel free to me as well. I will get back with you as soon as I can. I usually do not check after 5:00 pm, still trying to be a mom at home… Please make sure your address stays updated.

13 How to Find Information
1. Go to (ACS Homepage) 2.Click on ACS staff 3. Scroll and click on Teacher pages 4. Go to Mrs. Hutchinson tab Some things you will find under Mrs. Hutchinson’s tab Math Link will have daily homework assignments Language Arts Link will have homework assignments Resources-documents, links to websites, guidelines, etc. Remember to Check grades on Parent Portal. Grades are entered weekly, not daily.

14 SNACKS Appropriate morning snacks are fruit, veggies, yogurt, cheese, crackers, bread, health bars, healthy cereals. Students should not bring the following for morning snacks: sugary treats, popcorn (messy), dry Ramen Noodles. Birthday treats are always welcome! It is a district policy that they should be store bought so ingredients are listed and accessible. We are peanut free this year. Please do not send snacks with peanuts to be eaten in our classroom. THANK YOU for supporting our healthy snacks policy!

15 Who do you ask? Please remember your students are rotating from teacher to teacher for core classes. Make sure you ask the appropriate teacher when you have questions about a certain subject… Mrs. Hutchinson for Mathematics Mrs. McGinty Mrs. Spangler for Science Homeroom teacher for Social Studies, Grammar and and, Writing…
