4 The Ideal Year of Scouting
Introduce the Ideal Year of Scouting (IYOS) The Ideal Year of Scouting ©2016 Trail’s End®. All rights reserved.

5 “Ideal Year of Scouting” “Experience Of A Lifetime”
It is our goal to be able to provide a year round quality Scouting program through proper planning, budgeting, and goal setting to insure we are helping provide Scouts an “Experience Of A Lifetime”

6 “Ideal Year of Scouting”
Why did you get involved in Scouting? What do Scouts want to do? Get room to interact. Get them focused on what is important

7 Build The Scout’s Ideal Year It’s Their Program!
Get room to yell out some IYOS activities. Have them give examples of outside the box trips; Disney World, Grand Canyon, hike, Rafting in Colorado, etc. It’s Their Program!

8 Planning Plan the activities that the SCOUTS want to do!
List all the activities that the Scouts want to participate in for the next 12 months. Be sure to include summer camp. Get parental input on some of the activities the group should be participating in. Be sure to include traditional Scouting and local events. Work with your key volunteers to insure you are capturing all Scouting activities within the area and/or council Don’t be afraid to “Think Outside The Box” Plan the activities that the SCOUTS want to do! Remind the group that it is the Scouts program. Don’t do the same old, same old. Ask top selling units if they have done this?

9 Determine The Sales Goal
Ask a top seller if they had a goal in 2015? Did they hit it?

10 Goal Setting Determine the overall fundraising goal for the group based upon all the items that are budgeted Break the goal down to an individual Scout goal. Scouts should have the opportunity to earn his own way. Track progress for each Scout so they know how much they’ve earned towards paying their own way. Groups and Scouts that set goals will typically sell twice as much popcorn as groups and Scouts without goals. Let everyone know the steps to setting your goal

11 Ideal Year of Scouting Example of how to calculate your goal. Easier to communicate the goal by scout/container than the big group goal number. Breaking it down to a manageable number.

12 Ideal Year of Scouting Goal if you want to fund a single activity. All about planning an activity

13 What Is The Message To The Scout Parents?

14 Message To Scout Families
No out of pocket expense to enjoy 12 months of Scouting activities. Do one fundraiser a year and spend more time enjoying Scouting. Gives Scouts the opportunity to: -Earn their own way -Learn life lessons and responsibility All Scouts get to enjoy your group’s program. Consumers are more motivated to purchase based upon the cause. What are we selling? Reinforce the message we are sending. It is all about program!! Not selling popcorn. Getting donations for scouting an consumers get a gift in return

15 Consumers are 2X more likely to support a cause they believe in.
We Are Selling ADVENTURES! Consumers are 2X more likely to support a cause they believe in.
