Most importantly it is free to all members But what is TKC? It is really four resources in one. Traditional Resources
The John Williams Library A physical library based in Corby, UK Opening times: to Monday to Friday Our Knowledge Centre Team are based here and are happy to help. Firstly, there is a physical library at the CILT offices in Corby in Northamptonshire. Members are free to visit whenever they want (see opening hours). Library has largest collection of paper material – books, journals, pamphlets, reference material – related to logistics, supply-chain and transport (passenger and freight) anywhere we know of in Europe. We welcome any of our members to visit - embers from Poland would be most welcome if ever they are in the U.K. – but most of our members find it difficult to visit either because of time or living/working too far away. So, how can they access the stock/information in the Library if they do not visit? That takes us on to the second set of resources TKC offers – the online database resources – move on to next slide.

Online Resources Information delivery to your desktop 24 hours a day, 365 days a year through The Knowledge Bank We currently host three online databases: TKC provides members with online database access . There are three databases that members can access – see slide. How can a member gain access to these online resources? – move to next slide

Online Library Catalogue
An online portal connecting you to the printed stock in The John Williams Library: Over 50,000+ journal articles Over 12,000 books, pamphlets and reference materials This is a manual service available during office hours. The Online Library Catalogue provides members with remote viewing access to the paper collection held in the Library at Corby in the U.K. Think of the Catalogue as an electronic filing cabinet with a number of drawers. In the drawers are about 48,000 separate item records. An item could be a book, a journal article, a pamphlet. Every book in the library , for example, has a separate record made out for it that is held in the Catalogue. Over 36,000 separate journal articles also. And new records are being added every day as new books and journal article content are catalogued by the staff. So the collection is growing on a daily basis.

Business Intelligence Service
The world's largest, abstract and full-text, business periodical database. 6,700 = Total number of journals & magazines indexed and abstracted 5,000 = Total number of journals & magazines in full text PLUS 10,000 Company profiles 3,000 country economic reports 5,000 industry reports Personal search and journal alert facility for every user BUT as large as the physical collection is, it still only touches the surface of the material that members might want to access. So, CILT provides a second online resource for members to use – The Business Intelligence Service (BIS). The slide provides an insight in to what the BIS provides. This is the largest database of business-related journal information anywhere. Not just logistics, supply-chain or transport related material but all business-related disciplines such as management, marketing, finance, economics, human resources. The key information point within the database are the 6,700 electronic journals - the majority of which provide full-text access to their articles – e.g. The Harvard Business Review can be searched, full text results, going back to 1922 – 91 years of authoritative articles. Also country information, company profiles with detailed SWOT analyses, industry reports. NEXT SCREEN
