5 TASC Psychology and Counselling Service Referral Options Framework
CLIENT ENTRY PRIVATE CONSULTATION/ ASSESSMENT Does not require a referral. Full fee paying service. May be able to claim private health rebate. MENTAL HEALTH CARE PLAN (MHCP) Developed with General Practitioner, Pediatrician or Psychiatrist. Entitles individual up to 10 individual sessions per year. All sessions are bulk billed. MHCP and Medicare card number needs to be provided at time of appointment or before. EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP) Some workplaces offer an EAP, which entitles employees and family members to a specific number of sessions for short term intervention. To access either go through workplace HR manager or contact EAP provider. NATIONAL DISABILITY INSURANCE SCHEME (NDIS) Fully registered provider for the NDIS to provide Psychological services INTERNAL SUPPORT STAFF SERVICES SELF- REFERRAL COUNSELLING Some workplaces have their own support staff services for staff and their family, using counsellors external to the workplace. Does not require a referral or permission from the workplace to access. The workplace covers all counselling sessions.
