2 Instructional Design What is it?
Instruction (teaching) and design (premeditated) add the two together and you get something that should facilitate learning; ie make learning easier

3 Definition Instructional Design is the systematic development of instructional specifications using learning and instructional theory to ensure the quality of instruction. It is the entire process of analysis of learning needs and goals and the development of a delivery system to meet those needs. It includes development of instructional materials and activities; and tryout and evaluation of all instruction and learner activities. (from University of Michigan

6 Aspects (1): Appearance: font type (serif v sans serif), size, colour
graphics v text readability (how many screens worth of text?); to print or not to print? Sequence, navigation, pathways bells and whistles? (audio, video, flashing, Flash, animation)

7 Aspects (2) Activities: level of interaction
logical? clear? relevant? purpose? Language level do tasks match content? Disability issues deaf? blind?
