3 Types of Sponsorship

4 Types/Recipients + Involvement
Individual – sports people negotiate to get individual sponsorship deals. E.g. F1 drivers overalls are covered in logos and some sports have had to bring in rules about the number and size of these logos. Why do they do it? They are endorsing the product (giving their approval). Teams & Clubs from school teams to major clubs are able to negotiate lucrative financial deals + kit for free.

5 Sports – The National Governing Bodies (NGB) will have sponsors for their various competitions e.g’s? Allows them to promote their sport and pay coaches and develop at grass roots level. However lesser sports find it difficult to attract and so their sport suffers. Events – Increasingly popular as they can name the sport after them for extra publicity. Also with Olympic games they can then put their logo on product to help increase sales.
