Project Wisdom Getting Ready for FCAT
Project Wisdom # 24 April 2, 2014

A few Words of Wisdom Good morning, South Seminole. This is Mr. Bess, Assistant Principal Winston Churchill was the British Prime Minister during World War II who helped ensure the defeat of Hitler. He faced many difficult tests and tremendous challenges with life-and-death consequences. As we approach the FCAT, listen to Churchill’s advice: Let our advance worrying become advance thinking and planning. .

It can be difficult not to get stressed out about a standardized test, but we can learn a lot from Churchill’s quote. Instead of worrying about the test, think ahead. * Get plenty of sleep the night before and eat a healthy breakfast. * Plan to listen to or read the instructions carefully and try some deep breathing or stretching before you start. * If you find yourself worrying about this upcoming test, take charge of things. Think and plan in advance, and remember this: all you can do is your very best, and that’s all anyone can expect of you. With something to think about, this is Mr. Bess. Make it a great day… or not The choice is yours.

Group Discussion 1. On a scale of 1 to 10, how would your rate the level of test anxiety schoolwide? 2. What is the greatest cause of the worry and anxiety? What can teachers (the school) do to help with it?
