1920s: A decade of Social Transformation
The decade of the 1920s featured economic prosperity and carefree living for many. Many Americans owned cars, radios, and telephones for the first time. The cars brought the need for good roads. The radio and motion pictures inaugurated a national culture. The Nineteenth Amendment gave women the vote in national politics and symbolized their persistence in efforts to break out of old patterns of domesticity. The war had accelerated their entrance into business, industry, and the professions and their adoption of practices, such as drinking and smoking, traditionally considered masculine. Young people turned to new leaders and values and sought unorthodox dress, recreations, and morals.

Then and now Salesmen advertised for their products Consumers buy to make themselves feel better People have a lot of Opportunities between they can choose Advertising prospered by focusing on the psychology of buying Consumerism became more prominent because of the introduction of a huge number of new goods It was also influenced by the massive grow of the US economy A lot of people always want to buy the latest things on the market, that is why they keep buying stuff People nowadays have way more access to different markets through the Internet The advertisement is more prominent

Improved Transportation
Vehicles change the way we life They strengthen the economy and create jobs They are since then part of your daily life The American way of life changed because of the automobile and airplane The vehicles allowed people to travel It created a lots of jobs Vehicles are part of our daily life and everywhere you go you can see them Everyone has access to them through public transport Nowadays we could go everywhere we want as long as we can afford it

Jazz is still a famous music genre Harlem is known as an important touchpoint of American jazz, literature, and civil rights history Great flourishing of culture within the African-American community Powerful aspects of the Harlem Renaissance was its music Harlem was a cultural center, drawing black writers, artists, musicians, photographers, poets, and scholars. Various music genres are popular and it does not depend on your race if your work gets popular Hip Hop’s golden age is the 2000s homosexual political activism has played a big role in the 2000s

Changing Role of Women 1920s 2000s
Most people expect women to be a good mother and wife Women are allowed to vote Women can be successful in their jobs The Nineteenth Amendment gave women the right to vote Women started to work outside the home Women cut their her short, wore short skirts, smoked and danced in public Women are treated as equals with men The same education is available to both genders Women can own their own business and be their own boss

Popularity of Radio and Movies
Movie and Radio Industry creates jobs for thousands of people It entertains, informs and advertises It became a great leisure activity for many people Radios became more affordable and a staple in working- class and middle-class homes The movie industry grew as well and created thousands of jobs Cinema and Radios created cheap, entertaining diversions during times of crises Almost every household owns a TV or a Radio Watching movies or listening radio is part of our daily life We have access to News from all over the world

1920s On August 18, 1920 the Nineteenth Amendment was passed, giving women the right to vote. A little bit later on November 2 the first commercially licensed radio broadcast was heard, from KDKA in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Eighteens Amendment the U.S. Constitution was passed in the 1920s and created the era of Prohibition. The amendment forbade the manufacture, sale, or transportation of alcoholic beverages. Musical styles were also changing. Louis Armstrong started improvising and adding personal musical variations with his trumpet, playing in a style known as Jazz. The 1920s represented an era of change and growth. The decade was one of learning and exploration. America had become a world power and was no longer considered just another former British colony.
