3 The position is: The body erect with the arms at the sides and the palms forward
Anatomic terms such as anterior and posterior, medial and lateral, abduction and adduction, and so on apply to the body when it is in the anatomical position. Anatomical Position

4 Anatomical Terms Superior and Inferior
Superior is above the belly button. Inferior is below the belly button. Superior Inferior Anatomical Terms Superior and Inferior

5 Proximal and Distal Proximal – top half of a bone or the body.
Distal – bottom half of a bone or body. Proximal Distal Proximal and Distal

6 Medial and Lateral Medial – closer to your mid line.
Lateral – further away from your midline. Mid Line Medial Lateral Medial and Lateral

7 Anterior and Posterior
Anterior – your front. Posterior – your back. Anterior - Ventral Posterior - Dorsal Anterior and Posterior
