5 Vocabulary Quiz One of the most important aspects of understanding and being successful in mathematics is being able to understand specific mathematical vocabulary. As teachers we use technical vocabulary from the very early stages. Can you explain what is meant by the following in mathematics: sum, difference, product, quotient, integer, digit, term, bisect, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th quadrant, translation, tessellate, obtuse, acute, mean, median, mode, net. Have you got a Maths Dictionary at home? If your answer is “No” may we suggest you add it the Christmas List.

Any Questions Questions. Copies of all the presentations will be up loaded to the web site together with the government documents “Understanding Progress in Mathematics – A Parents Guide” and “Mathematical Vocabulary”. Any other requests? Thank you for attending and a big thank you to all our staff for giving up their time this evening. GOODNIGHT – HAVE A SAFE JOURNEY HOME
