2 The name Canada is believed to come from
the Indian word Kanata, meaning ‘”village” or ”community”. This fact alone shows that the native population of the country consisted mostly of Indian tribes.

3 The French were the first to settle in the country in early 18th century.

4 Six distinct time zones Canada is the world’s second largest country after Russia and the largest country in the Western Hemisphere.

7 The population of Canada is over 30 million, about 80% of which live in the south.
About three quarters of population live in towns and cities.

10 Canada is a constitutional monarchy
Elizabeth II, Queen of England, is also Canada’s Queen. The Queen is the head of state, and is represented in Canada by the governor-general.

11 National Day – July the 1st
This is the main state holiday, established in honor of the Union of all British North American colonies into a single Canada. It celebrates since 1st July 1867.
