4 Relationships Within. deal with the Issue of Acceptance by the Church
Relationships Within deal with the Issue of Acceptance by the Church. What is it to Accept me? It is to… Receive my Person; Respect my Persuasion; Recognise my Potential. A. Non-acceptance is a Possibility Accepted in the World. 1. Christ’s Person was not accepted by His own Community. Jn. 1:11 a. It is the Way of the World without Christ. b. He had Failed and Fallen short of their expectations. Cf. Jn. 19:15

5 1. Christ’s Person was not accepted by His own Community. Jn. 1:11
2. A Prophet is accepted except in his own Country. He is not without honour except in his own country, and in his own house. {Mt. 13:57; Mk. 6:4; Is this true in the Church too? {Lk. 4:24; Jn. 4:44 a. Familiarity Fuels (breeds) contempt. b. Prejudice is Blind to a Person’s Potential. c. The Grass is Greener on the other side.

10 Things You Won’t Find in a Church That Attracts Millennials “What differentiates a church culture that attracts Millennials from one that repels them?” 1) There is a strong resistance to change. 2) A compelling vision is lacking or non-existent. 3) Mediocrity is the expectation. 4) There is a paternalistic approach to leading Millennials.

7 10 Things You Won’t Find in a Church That Attracts Millennials
1 Timothy 4:12-16 (NKJV) 12 Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. 13 Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership. 15 Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all. 16 Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you. 5) There is a pervasive insider-focused mentality. 6) Transparency and authenticity are not high values. 7) Mentoring is not important. 8) Culture is viewed as the enemy. There's a difference between holding onto the dead faith of the living (traditionalism) versus holding onto the living faith of the dead (tradition) – Yale Church History Prof J. Pelikan. 9) Community is not valued. 10) The church is a source of division and not unity.
