Controlling Habits There are all kinds of Controlling Habits
Some are physical addictions – drugs, alcohol, smoking . . . Some are psychological – work, shopping, the internet, TV, eating disorders, compulsive gambling, pornography . . .

Controlling Habits These habits can have serious negative effects
They can cause harm to our relationships, our work, our health, our finances, our spiritual lives . . . Sadly, many people just accept these controlling habits and continue suffering the negative effects throughout their lives!

Some Ways People Try To Deal With Them
There are many methods and substitutes Self-help books, seminars, support groups, retreats . . . There are pills, patches, electronic devices and bracelets . . .

The problem is, most of these things don’t work! People spend fortunes on all kinds of silly gimmicks Even worse, they waste much of life’s precious time chasing after these false promises

You have to want to get well! – John 5:1-6 Are you fed-up with the negative affects of this habit? Are you willing to do whatever it takes?

You have to put your trust in God – Proverbs 3:5-6 Faith is the victory that overcomes the world – 1 John 5:3-5 I can do All things through Him who gives me strength – Philippians 4:13; 1 John 4:4

You have to follow through with actions – James 1:22-25 Make a commitment to Jesus in baptism – Galatians 2:20 Commit to regular fellowship with the Church – Heb. 10:22-25 Be accountable to someone who will help you – James 5:16 Keep persevering, don’t ever give up! – 1 Peter 1:13-16
