8 Figurative Language Allusion An allusion is when An author makes an indirect reference in text to past events or figures or to current famous people or events. Personification: Giving Human Qualities to inanimate objects or animals. Ex: The leaves danced with the wind. Irony: Is when what is expected to happen is the opposite of what actually happens
