4 National Resources Disabilities Awareness - Includes general information, individual scout advancement plans with additional advancement information, education presentations, camping considerations, program planning strategies. Guide to working with Scouts with Special Needs and Disabilities - Tips, suggestions, and guidelines for working with scouts with special needs. Includes a definition of types of disabilities, leadership techniques, and a list of resource organizations. Scouting for Youth with Disabilities Manuel - 155 pages and goes over everything from Adult leadership support, each BSA program, alternative requirements for advancement, understanding categories of disabilities, and program tips. National committee task force for answers to questions about special needs Scouting

6 Council Resources Baden-Powell Council does not have a Advisory Committee for Youth with Disabilities Look within your district, community, and unit for individuals that are familiar with working with scouts with disabilities. Scouting for All Instructors – Have a background in education and/or is a parent of scout with a disability. Contact your unit commissioner, District Director, Cub Scout Associates they will be able to connect you to a volunteer whom as the background that might be able to assist you. Reach out to disabilities awareness counselor

Community Organizations: Cooperative Education Services (Ex. BOCES, DCMO BOCES) Non-Profit support services (Ex. STIC, ACHIEVE, FAMILY RESCOURCE NETWORK) Developmental Service Offices Council / District Leaders: Commissioners District Director or Cub Scout Associate Your Unit Leader / CM Parents National Scouting Experts: Advisory Committee for Youth with Disabilities in a neighboring council Fellow Volunteers: Teachers Parents of youth with disabilities Worked with special needs youth in their unit or other youth organizations Library/Training Materials
