1 SR1 extension follow up Extract and update of “Minutes of the keep-up meeting for SR1” sent on 27/02/ results from the visits and new requirements 13-Mar-17 Marco Ciapetti

2 Current status – taken decisions
A Bi-weekly meeting about SR1 status will be held from today every two Mondays at 14:30 in this room. People invited to this meeting: TC:         Marco Ciapetti and/or Ludovico Pontecorvo, Siegfried Wenig and/or Laetitia Bardo (always) SMB:     Pierre Cardon  (always) EN-CV:  Alexandre Joel Broche (always) EN-EL:   Thierry Charvet and/or Thierry Octave and/or Bruno Saint Sulpice (always) HSE:       Valentin Algoet  (always) BE-ICS:  Denis Raffourt  (only when needed) IT-CS:    Leszek Borakiewicz (only when needed) Users of the clean room will be invited when needed but are always welcome to join

3 Current status – taken decisions
Last meeting on 27/02/2017 (Marco, Pierre, Alexandre, Ludovico) Civil Engineering works starting date has been anticipated because no MS nor Tender are needed: June 2017 instead of July Target ending date for SMB works is end of December 2017 (tbc). At the latest January 2018 for SMB works and July 2018 for the global. SMB will take care only of the external building (SR1) extension and flooring. TC will take care of the clean room extension and the internal partition walls. SMB will start with the external building extension before removing the present wall. Once the building is extended, SMB will install a temporary partition wall at around 1m from the present wall (all along).

4 Current status – taken decisions
Once the temporary partition wall is installed, CV will switch off the air conditioning. The ventilation will be off for at least 6 months. CV needs at least 2 months to get the new Air Handling Unit (for the delivery to CERN, without taking into account the installation). EL and IT must remove all cables between the current SR1 wall and clean room wall before dismounting the walls. Due to the bad results of the air leakage test, the overpressure is reduced from 30 Pa to 15 Pa  no overpressure between clean room and radiation lab A new Air Handling Unit might be needed (depending on the price)

5 Current status – taken decisions
The clean room will be ISO 8 according to ISO All cable trays shall be covered  clean room extension firm shall schedule other interventions after the installation

6 Current status The construction permit should arrive soon. Status?
Waiting for cost estimation for new Air Handling Unit from EN-CV. Status? Two firms (ER2i and STIC) have been contacted for an offer for sealing the current clean room: Visit with ER2i was done on 08/03/2017. Waiting for the offer Visit with STIC is planned for 14/08/2017. Work on Clean Room Technical Description for MS is on going. It should be completed this week. Technical Specification will be prepared right after

7 Current status The Users have been contacted on 02/03/2017. Following are the answers from Didier: Total expected power consumption (Pixel/Strip integration, testing, standard activities): Unknown (waiting for Ingrid’s and Paolo’s reply) Amount of lux needed: same as it is now Number and position and type of sockets and switches: power socket distribution at every pillars and one at about every 3-4 meter against the wall 4-6 sockets (16 A each) per distribution terminal with a local differential switch for the group of 6 3 phase socket with 380V with 32 A max power at each power distribution terminal Number and position of Ethernet inputs / wireless: Number of Wi-Fi terminals: Unknown One Ethernet socket per each electrical terminal Path for cables (along pillars or cable trays etc.): Unknown (waiting for Ingrid’s and Paolo’s reply)

8 Current status Visit with EN-EL was done on 08/03/2017. A rough estimation of 100 kCHF was done for: Removal of the cables and equipment Grounding Replacement of the existing EBD6 / 1R board with a larger model Creation of 2 new starters (160A + 125A) on the EBD5 / 1R board for new HVAC installation and external chiller Cabling activities (HVAC power supplies, chiller, existing + new outlet boxes, lighting for the extension, safety lights for extension, AUG in extension) Supply of new equipment (outlet boxes, lighting, safety lighting, AUG, lighting controls) Luminosity will be 400 lux (to be verified after the test)

9 Requirements The ITK Pixel system needs to run a Pixel system test using FEI-4 chips which can use some existing infrastructure within SR1 (cables, power supplies, cooling plant (CO2)).  For this to work it is needed: The barrack/container where there is the plant needs to move to the back side of SR1 The system test schedule should be made compatible with the power cuts (if possible) If the interruptions are short and scheduled, this is likely not a problem, If they are weeks/months, this is incompatible with locating the system test in SR1 Lack of cooling (HVAC) for extended durations is OK A preliminary schedule for this activity is the following: Jun – Sep 2017: Setting up of system test stand (power needed even if few days of outage can be discussed, CO2 optional with movable smaller system) Oct – Nov 2017: Preparation of larger structure (power and C02 needed, days of outage can be discussed) Dec 2017 – Summer 2018 evaluation of larger structure (power and C02 needed)

10 Things to be decided The extension of the changing room might present problems concerning the present cable trays. The proposal is to extend it by ≈1m To be removed ≈1 m ≈1 m

11 Schedule preliminary DRAFT
From TC (TBC): Jun 2017: SMB should start civil engineering works Ago 2017: EL should remove all cables close to 1m from the SR1 roof (if any) Sep 2017: EL-IT should remove the cables running on the wall to be dismounted (in between the wall and the building wall) Oct 2017: SMB should install the temporary partition wall (1m from existing wall) Nov 2017: CV will stop the ventilation for 6 months Sure? Why so early? Dec 2017: target for ending civil engineering works (end of the month) Jan 2018: TC should start installing the internal clean room extension and EN-CV should start working on the HVAC system Mar 2018: target for ending clean room extension installation walls and ceiling Apr 2018: EN-EL, IT-CS should start working Jul 2018: target for commissioning the SR1 clean room extension

12 Schedule preliminary DRAFT
From SMB (TBC):

13 Priorities Get unknown information from ITK people
Visit with IT-CS to be scheduled Global schedule of the entire work (all WPs) is not yet done. This is needed quickly! Technical description and specification for the clean room extension are urgent For the IPP update, all WPs shall prepare a short summary with technical info, costs, schedule, etc.

14 Questions What kind of internal floor SMB will provide? (Concrete?)
What kind of internal floor is required? (Antistatic resin flooring?) Exact dimensions of the doors to access the extension? Are the external doors provided from SMB? Can the door to R-C04-A be moved on the new portion of the wall?
