HEATING APPARATUS SMK Negeri 13 Bandung
2
Objectives After this session, the students are expected to be able :
To explain types of heating apparatus in a laboratory Teknologi dan Rekayasa
3
Types of Heating Apparatus for Production of Low Temperatures
Constant-temperature Electric Oven Hot Plate Steam Bath Radiator Heat Lamps Teknologi dan Rekayasa
4
Constant-temperature Electric Oven
Electrically heated. Thermostatically controlled. Temperature range extending from room temperature to 180 oC or 250 oC. Used for drying precipitates or solid at low controlled temperatures. Liquids should not be evaporated, nor liquid mixtures digested in drying ovens. Not to spill any material in ovens or furnaces. uu Teknologi dan Rekayasa
5
Hot Plate Electrically heated. Giving temperatures of 100-200 oC.
A gas-heated hot plate may be subtituted. Teknologi dan Rekayasa
6
Steam Bath Temperatures not rising above 100 oC.
For the slow evaporation of liquids, digestion of precipitates, etc. A bath connected to a steam line that can be run day and night is of great aid in expediting analytical work . Teknologi dan Rekayasa
7
Radiator This useful appliance is simply an air bath in which liquids can be evaporated rapidly without danger of loss. Consists of large iron or, better, nickel crucible or special vessel fitted with a clay or silica triangle, in which the crucible containing the liquid is placed. Teknologi dan Rekayasa
8
Heat Lamps Infrared lamps are useful for evaporations, drying precipitates, and charring filter papers. Solutions that tend to creep can advantageously be evaporated in this way. Teknologi dan Rekayasa
