1 Fun with economics Create a board game!

2 The project… Work in a group of 3.
Create a board game that will help students practice these ideas: Goods and services Wants and needs Producers and consumers Spending and saving

3 Your game… Make a colorful, creative game board with a path from the starting point to the end. Include ways people can EARN money, ways they can CHOOSE TO SPEND money, and ways they are REQUIRED TO SPEND money.

Observe and start to get some ideas!

5 Some game ideas… Roll a die to see how many spaces you move.
Mark some spaces on the path from start to finish so that if a person lands on that space, they have to Take a card and follow the directions (earn, save, spend by choice, or be required to spend!). Spin a spinner to either receive money or have to spend it! Get rewards or consequences, as money or as moving forward or backward to different spaces. Answer a question on a card about how they would spend money or save it, and why.

6 More game ideas… Be creative with
Game pieces (Make your own? Bring in small items or toys?) How to pay people (Beans? Play money? Pennies? Some other small object?) 3-D areas on game boards, colorful pictures, border designs, lettering on the game board. Use your imagination!

7 Write down the basic rules of the game on a separate sheet of paper.
