Welcome to Year 6 6CJ Reasons for the meeting – an opportunity for the teachers to explain about the expectations of Year 6 school work, homework and routines, staffing. equipment and property and for the parents to have an opportunity to ask questions and clarify any queries they may have.

All long hair must be tied back so it is completely off the child’s face. In their pencil case they need: Ruler- shatter resistant Glue stick Blue handwriting pen (not biro) ideally HB pencils (including colouring in) Eraser (sensible) Pencil sharpener spare pen

Homework handed out in in orange book is due back in on Monday except for Maths and spellings which are to be returned on Wednesday. Homework Task Suggested Time Guidelines Topic Task 30 minutes per week Maths Tasks Spellings Regular 5 minute practice each day Current Affairs/Project 30 minutes each week Total Time Spent on Homework 2 hours 30 minutes

Reading Reading at home policy –children have an ORT book, a ‘home reader’ in the colour band that matches their ORT stage and free choice of any library book to be changed or renewed weekly. In total, 3 books to ensure an enriched experience. All reading to be noted in Reading Diaries to give an overview of the child’s reading ‘diet’.
